Paul Bishop Candidate Division 10
Hello and welcome to Paul Bishop's website.
As a proud resident of Birkdale, I am a willing candidate for Division 10 (Birkdale/Thorneside) in the coming Redland City Council election, on 28th April 2012.
I am a husband and father of four children who all live, work, trade and entertain locally.
My ancestors arrived on Peel Island aboard SS Gauntlet in 1876.
Pioneer and great, great, great grandfather Walter Hay cut the first track from Nambour to Noosa, freeing up trade for the Gympie Gold Rush.
My Grandfather was a pioneer in the field of radio communications who assisted in the defence of our nation in WWII and founded Radio 4GY.
My father's line of Bishops were raised in Wynnum. Dad was a Civil Engineer.
Mum was a Physiotherapist who had a private practice in Bay Terrace, Wynnum, and she did regular treatments in the Redlands while my brothers & I played in Tingalpa Creek.
I was born in Gladstone in 1966, then moved to the Bayside in 1967.
My two brothers and I grew up in Wynnum. I attended kindergarten near the Wynnum Wading Pool and Brisbane City Hall, then both Wynnum West & Wynnum North Primary, before moving to Brisbane State High School and Queensland University of Technology.
In 1986, I graduated with an Associate Diploma in the Arts (Theatre).
Between 1987-2011 I have appeared in over 60 professional plays around the nation, have played numerous guest roles in TV shows and played the part of police Sergeant Ben Stewart in award winning TV drama Blue Heelers (1998-2004). I have also appeared in many film, radio and new media productions.
In 2004, after 15 years in Sydney and Melbourne, my supportive wife and 4 children returned home to settle in Birkdale where we have lived for 7 years.
My platform is all about empowering local community action:
1. To support health, wealth & wellbeing for local residents.
2.To support local clubs, organisations, enterprise and the local economy.
3.To raise awareness, about local issues and to make the most of what we've got in this most amazing part of the world.
